The multi-roaster program has been a marquee feature of the way Dose serves coffee since our humble beginnings in 2009. Though it has now become the norm at many third wave shops, at the time it was a new and diverse way to bring many roasters, from many places, to the greater Nashville coffee community.
A few years ago, we started to dream of ways we could become a part of the importing and roasting process ourselves, without necessarily having our own roastery. How we could form direct relationships with everyone along the supply chain, from the farmer who picks the coffee cherry on a mountainside in Colombia, to the regular in Sylvan Park who grabs the bag with that very bean now tucked inside. How we could narrow our focus but expand our ambitions.
That’s where our good friends at Methodical Coffee come in. Through our partnership with them, in January of 2024, we launched our very own line of Dose branded coffees that allows us to have full control of the coffees we are sourcing and the story each cup tells. Roasted in Greenville, South Carolina, at Methodical Manufactory, the Dose coffee line allows us to take trips to origin, foster relationships with farmers and importers and follow the bean from farm to table. Ranging from our Signature Blend (what is always served on drip at all three cafes), to our Espresso Blend (the default espresso for the majority of our drink menu), to multiple single origins, to our very own cold brew blend (appropriately titled ‘Bandit Blend’ after the Tennessee state wild animal, the raccoon), this lineup encapsulates all the essentials of great coffee.
Thanks to the infrastructure of Methodical, the lifelong dream of getting our beans into your hands, nationwide, is now a reality. We have been taking trips to origin and will continue to do so. We have been fostering relationships with farmers, sitting on the front porches that overlook their lots, their livelihoods, and listened to how fair and direct trade sustains them. We work with organizations who facilitate mentee and mentor relationships to sustain coffee production for generations to come. We regularly visit the Methodical headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina, to sample new offerings, participate in regular cuppings and grow our relationships with their incredible team.
